=================================== The EKLakers still have a nice variety of utility infielders, extra OFers and pitchers available. As you know. I am not adverse to trading.... Let me know your wants/needs, and I'll put together an offer for you. Trader Dave Lauer ================================ Schenectady has excess at catching (total of 1354 ab’s). If you need help behind the plate – I’m willing to trade usage for draft picks. Don ==================================== Guys, As per usual, the EKLakers have several fringe players available. These guys will give you some flexibility as well a s draft position protection. All I want for any of these guys is a #5, or select TWO for a #4: Position players: OF's Bob Thorp and Archie Wilson. 2B-3B Jack Merson Pitchers: Eddie Yuhas (check him out - one very good year as a MR!)Carl Scheib (SP - 1.285 WHIP! A bonus guy in 1953) Ewell Blackwell Jim Waugh Bill Werle Let me know.... Trader Dave ============================ Sorting through the wreckage of my waiting-for-Willie team, I found another couple of usable pieces for a contender... 2b/3b Bill Serena - 435 PA of .274/.345/.469 with an Av rating at 2b, Fr at 3b. Somewhat useful next year, but this is the bulk of his value. Would need ~200 2b AB's in return. of Johnny Wyrostek - 496 PA of .265/.359/.347 with the kicker of being Vg in cf and Ex in rf. Would need ~300 AB's in return. Vin - Mariners =========================== Despite being the uncarded and soon-to-be-uncarded clearinghouse of SPB-60, the Mariners can spare a few parts... Jim Dyck 3b/of - One-year wonder, but a damn fine one. Vg at 3b and lf and Av in cf. Hits .269/.354/.450 in 458 PA. Billy Johnson 3b - Last useful year, and it isn't great, but 320 PA of .252/.339/.323 with Fr D at third can fill a hole if you've got one. Sadly, that's about it:-) Vin - Mariners ======================== Guys, The EKLakers have a spot open on their protected roster. I have three 3rd-round picks that I could deal (#'s 7,12 or 13) for a player worthy of protecting. Without updated rosters, it's difficult to figure out who you might have available. If, in trimmiing down your roster, you have a guy who "fits the bill" that I am looking for, send me your offer. I have a decent offer on the table for that #4(12) pick. Barring an offer from you, I will take that offer tonight. So if you have three decent phase 2 types (I love those bonus players and pitchers!) let me know right away. Trader Dave ========================= Jack has 398 ABs with a .245-.298-.344 line and is an AV at 2B and FR at 3B. DEcent Fielding Pct at both positions. Looking for a draft choice or future player of similar value. Also, Dick Kryhoski, !B with 342 ABs this year and a couple of more ok years as a !B. Draft pick or future player or make an offer. Terry B. ========================== When we all meet in Chicago on Friday, April 27th for our live draft – I will have the distinct pleasure of watching Dave Lauer cry in person as I draft Eddie Mathews #1 overall. The start of the Eddie Mathews era in Schenectady, coupled with the drafting of Roy McMillan in 1951, means that Ray Boone has become expendable. Boone is entering the prime of an excellent career. In return I am looking for a comparable OF’er with future value, especially in 1954. Dave Philley can also be had for the right price. His 1952 numbers, coupled with his Ex/54 in CF should be extremely appealing to a contender. Don Rahn – Schenectady Patriots ====================== The Lakers have a #4(12) available for three(3) or more phase 2 bonus-type players, preferably a 3B or 2 to back up the Eddie Mathews I lost out on by the "luck of the lottery." Dave Lauer ======================== The Jakes still have Dom Dimaggio availale for his last season. He is an AV-VG in the OF with VG running speed. He has 486 ABs with a 102 OPS+. Looking for a third rounder of uncarded player of similar value. Make me an offer! Terry Joliet Jakes ========================== The Louisiana Lightning are making for players and draft picks avaiable: 1) Our 1952 1st RDP (Pick 9) - Gonna be a great player there at pick 9. Will listen to any offer for it 2) SP Gerry Staley - A fine starter in 1952 and a VERY solid pitcher through 1961 3) Duane Pillette - A solis SP in 1952 and 1954 and very usable in 1953 4) CF/RF Frankie Baumholtz - Frank bats .325 in 1952 (400 AB'in CF), .306 in 520 AB in 1953 and is a very good Part Time 300 AB player in 1954 and 1955. We are rebuilding, so looking to get younger....... Take Care, Mike See ========================== I have four full time slugging outfielders all of whom play LF and I am looking to trade at least one of them. They are: Ralph Kiner http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kinerra01.shtml Hank Sauer http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sauerha01.shtml Gus Zernial http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zernigu01.shtml Bob Nieman http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/niemabo01.shtml I think each of these guys is worth at least a first round pick, if not more although I might consider less for Nieman. If you don't want to trade a first round pick I also need help at 3B and good pitchers. All inquires will be answered. ======================= ...and the 1951 season has ended (i.e., your team is not in the play-offs) and, like any good GM, you're looking ahead, if you happen to have a guy who is a bonus-type player who qualifies at 3B in 1952, I've got Roy Smalley with 361 bonus ABs at SS in 1952 and a decent team in 1953 who is going to lose his job to Johnny Logan. No trade offers here - just sayin'.... Dave "Second Pick" Lauer EKLakers ====================== Lou Possehl, Kent Peterson and Duke Markell. Not a Wall Street law firm. Three guys who combined provide 50 games (of dubious quality, granted) of which 18 could be starts. Together they make one bonus pitcher who could bail you out of an overuse situation. All I am asking is for a #6 for all three of these fine citizens. First #6 lands all 3. Hit that reply button.... Dave Lauer EKLakers ======================== It has been rather quiet in SPB-60.... So I'll try to fill the void. The East Kenosha Lakers still have lots of spare-parts pitchers to trade. Non-bonus guys like SP Art Schallock and MR Bobby Hogue. Bonus guys like SP Roger Bowman, SP Lou Possehl, MR Kent Peterson and MR Duke Markell. Sure, they are bad pitchers, BUT they'll give you some games and help you hold your draft position. I've got some quality position players still available. OF's Ray Chapman and Cliff Mapes play all 3 OF positions and are savvy with the bat. SS Roy Smalley gives you 338 barely bonus (.231 BA) at-bats with some pop. July 1st is galloping up on us. Get your draft position insurance while the selection is good. Trader Dave ================================= Running out of inventory... THE MICK IS AVAILABLE!!! Mickey Harris, that is. Hey, this lefty reliever has 45 games this year and 60 bonus games in relief in 1952. With an ERA of 3.81, he just doesn't fit with my bunch of arsonists. He's worth a #4 just for this year alone. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/harrimi01.shtml Roy Smalley: SS with 338 bonus ABs (he hit .231 with 8 homers) and he returns for a few more years. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/smallro01.shtml Looking for 3B help or a draft choice. Dave Lauer EKLakers ==================================== I'm back home in Indiana and after the supplemental draft find that the Wabash Six have a couple of extra players available. C-Phil Masi 225-ab .271 4-hr 2B-Mike Goliat 149-ab .221 4-hr 2B-Danny Murtaugh 151-ab .199 1-hr None of these have any real future. I'd be interested in draft picks or RP's. Let me know if you have any interest. Bill Lanke ================================ It looks as though I could use some bonus 2B at bats. Can anyone help? Steve L. ================================ Guys, the EKLakers bargain basement is in full swing. Don't delay - write today for these best buys: SP Howie Fox: 3.83 ERA, qualifies for 33 starts and 11 relief games. He's easily worth a #3 plus a body. MR Mickey Harris: tough LH reliever, 3.81 ERA, qualifies for 45 games. 3rd rounder or equivalent. SP Leo Kiely: Has a long career ahead of him. A 3.34 ERA - qualifies for 18 starts this year. Send me a 3rd rounder. C Clyde Kluttz: hits .313 with 163 AB. What a nice guy to have on your bench! SS Roy Smalley: Where's my Cubs fans? .231 with 338 bonus ABs and 8 HR. Strike while the iron is hot, guys. Remember you are dealing with the one, the only... Trader Dave! =================================== The Schenectady Patriots are looking to rebuild for the future. Our offense is not competitive this season, and start falling off significantly next year. With Whitey Ford, Mike Garcia and Carl Erskine, our pitching is going to be improving over time. Every player is available except Ford. Larry Jansen is available – and he is one of the top three SP’s for the 1951 Season 35 available starts with a 3,04 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 278 IP Jansen also has two solid seasons ahead of him. Jackie Robinson and others – including a couple of excellent relievers – can be had. In looking over the 1952 draft – it appears about as deep as 1951. So I am probably looking for quality players from 1954 and later more than picks beyond the 1st round. I will also probably need 1951 usage in return as well. Don - Patriots ================================== Well, I've lost my maximum amount, and still have some players who could help lots of teams: Starting pitchers: Ken Holcombe, Leo Kiely and Howie Fox are one-year guys. Connie Marrero has a good year and comes back for two even better seasons. Reliever Mickey Harris is a good LH reliever this year. Spare parts Clyde Kluttz (C, .313 in 163 AB) and SS Roy Smalley (.231 and has several usable years to go) are also available. Draft choices will do, but I listen to any and all offers. I'm still in sunny California, but I check my e-mail regularly. Dave Lauer EKLakers =================== Gentlemen, I have a catcher available, Phil Masi. He has 225 AB's, 4 HR's and .271 BA. He's not worth much in 1952. I would trade him for a 1951 pitcher, RP or SP. nd would consider draft picks for next season. I am in the process of shutting down our winter home and migrating back north, so I may not respond to any offers until mid week. Bill Lanke, Wabash Six ======================= Can't make a trade now but maybe during the draft or right afterwards I may very well need a serious amount of SS at bats. Right now I have essentially zero and there doesn't look like a lot of SS quality (in 1951) in the draft. My Phase II pick is very late so I will probably be in the market. If you have some extra SS at bats (would like an AV or VG, BA not that important) keep me in mind. Will probably trade some excess from this draft or next year draft picks after the draft. ============================== Baltimore has a few extra pitchers available for the cheap. Melido Perez has 26 starts and his 1.46 whip(just about league average) makes him a decent 5th starter. This is Melido's last season. Jose Parra also has 26 starts as a low end bonus pitcher if you're desparate for an arm. He also gives you 44 bonus reliefs next year. You can have either for a 5th round pick or both for a 4th round pick. Reliever Mike Perez can be had for a 4th round pick. He has 77 appearances with a 3.66 era and a decent whip of 1.39. He'll also give you 48 bonus reliefs in '96 and 18 good reliefs in '97. ================================ Selected SPB 60 Managers, After scouring the rosters, I thought your team might be very interested in picking up an OF with a decent average, good on base skills, and plenty of power at the plate. Granted neither of my three available OF's are every day guys, but they are great platoon players, and I am not asking for a lot in return. First off, I can only trade one of these 3 OF's, so the first one to reply accepting an offer on either OF will take the prize. Two OF's I have make a nice platoon. First up is LH hitting Bill Howerton. His line this year for nearly 300 AB's is: .271./.353/.475. He is rated to play all 3 OF positions, but his best spot is LF. He has average speed, and AV arm, and VG power from both sides of the plate. I am asking a 3rd round pick for this player. He plays one more season (52) and is decent, but very limited. You won't find a player with this kind of ability in the 3rd round in 1951. Surprisingly, after Mantle and Mays the quality drops way off quickly this year, all the way around. (in case you have not looked at the depth yet). My second player available would make a great platoon with Howerton for me, however I am willing to offer both players. Slugger Clyde Vollmer is available as well. His '51 line for nearly 400 AB's is: .251/.345/456. He has great HR power smashing an amazing 22 roundtrippersn in 386 AB's this season. He is also an AV runner, AV fielder at all 3 spots, with a VG arm. He can make a difference on your team and you will be very hard pressed to find a better offensive player in round 2 this season. First 2nd rounder takes this fine player, who plays for 3 more years as a decent platooner. Perhaps my most interesting available OF is the incomparable Joe DiMaggio. Granted in Joe's final season he is NOT the player he once was, but he is indeed a worthwhile addition. His '51 line is: .263/.365/.422. He still has plenty of pop at the plate, and can help your OF this season. He maintains a VG CF rating, a VG arm, and is a VG runner. He is good for 415 AB's. A decent second rounder will land him for your outfield, and there is not going to be a player who can produce like this, with these ratings, in round 2, at least not in 1951. As I said, first offer for any of these 3 OF's takes him home. Deadline for trading is tonight. I apologize for not offering sooner, but I have been battling myself about protecting all 3 players. Finally, this morning, I decided to offer all three and trade only one. If not traded, they will all 3 be protected. Best, Gary ============================ There's still 24 hours of trading time left! Why send in your rosters now??? Mike See and I are just getting warmed up! Trader Dave. PS: Still have that #5 pick available for 3 of your Phase 2 guys you'd hate to lose for nothing....... ============================= Tom Ferrick has 2 good releif years left with ERA's about 3.15. A 4th rounder would nab him. You won't find anything comparable in the 1951 draft in the 4th round. Terry ============================ The Lightning will also offer up a combimned Don Newcombe, great 1951 and future, and OF Gil Coan, who has an incredible 1951 for a long term OF and replacment pitcher that doesn't need to be that good... Mike See =============================== The Schenectady Patriots have evaluated their current state and don’t like what they see for the next few years. Not enough offense. We have several players of variable worth long-term with great 1951 value. Jackie Robinson .338/.429 33 bouble, 7 triples, 19 HR’s and a EX rating at 2B Larry Jansen SP 3.04 ERA with 1.11 WHIP and 35 starts available Luke Easter 1B .270/.333 with 27 HR and 103 RBI (he has similar stats in 1952) Johnny Pesky SS/3B .313/.417 with 93 runs and a vg at SS We also have several other solid player, including three excellent relievers in Wilks, Aloma and Ostrowski Every player on the roster is available with the exception of Whitey Ford, Mike Garcia and Carl Erskine. I am looking to make strategic trades that can spur success from 1953 forward. Not looking just to dump for a good 1952 draft pick. I would also need usage AB/GS/GR in return as I have little depth. I will be available most of today as it is pouring outside. Don Rahn - Patriots =============================== Schenectady is looking to improve it’s offense for this season. We could also use a solid SP. We are willing to part with our 1st rounder and players. We have immediate need for a 1 or 2 year stud 3B or SP. Let me know if you have such players. Don ================================== Need to cull out some very good players on my roster before I lose them in Phase II. Looking for appropriate draft picks. All of these guys are useable in 1951 and many thereafter Jerry Coleman: VG-2B .249 BA with 362 at bats in 1951; great PH (.405 BA) in 1952, a few years as a utility player after that Bob Dillinger: 3B who hit .292 in 342 AB in 1951 Mickey Grasso: AV catcher with three years left Hal Rice: Good fourth OF with decent at bats through 1954 Monte Kennedy: 29 appearances with 2.25 ERA in 1951 and 31 appearances with 3.02 ERA in 1952. Have three more guys to add to the list for lesser draft picks Hal Yvars; .317 BA in 41 at bats in 1951, a useable 2nd catcher for several more years Bill Werle, 59 appearances, 8 starts in 1951 Steve Bilko; need to wait but he hits 21 homers in 1953 John U. ============================== The Raleigh Tarheels are open to moving the 4th overall pick. If interested give me a shout and let’s see if we can work that out. =========================== Fresh off the BIG ONE.....the Lightning have 3B Grady Hatton Available. An EX 3B and a good bat for 331 AB in 1951 with a long future ahead. Really just looking for a comparable utility with a few less AB's that can also play 2B and 3B. If you have a match, let me know! Take Care, Mike See ================================ The EKLakers have a 4th, 5th and 6th round picks that I would trade for multi-player deals (3 guys you don't want to lose in the phase 2 for nothing for one pick.) Let me know as soon as possible.... Trader Dave Lauer =============================== ...AFTER the draft - file this one in your "check back" file. I will be looking to move Peanuts Lowrey after the draft. The guy hit .303 in 1951 and has another fine year in 1952 before he becomes phase 2 fodder. In 1951, he is rated at 2B, 3B, LF, CF and RF. He even has a chauffer's license to drive your team bus. I'll be looking for a 1952 draft pick for him. Dave...Lakers ==================================== If you are in need a catcher AB's, the Lightning have a respectable C in Dixie Howell available with 207 AB and a .251 Avg. Also, if you need a 3B with some future as well, we have Grady Hatton available. Looking for draft picks. Take Care, Mike See ===================================== Once the WS is finished, The East Kenosha Lakers have a trio of players looking for new homes in 1951. ATTENTION YANKEE FANS! The Lakers are putting PHIL RIZUTTO on the block. Scooter's got 3 decent years left at SS, and he deserves better than my team. He continues to be a top defensive performer, and does not embarass himself at the plate. Looking for an early 2nd round pick or the equivalent for him. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rizzuph01.shtml HARRY LEE "PEANUTS" LOWREY Three useful seasons left for Peanuts. In 1951, he's a LF-CF-3B-2B qualifier who hits .303 in 370 ABs. Looking for a 3rd rounder and an bonus-type infielder for him. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lowrepe01.shtml JOE GINSBERG Wonder where they got "Joe" out of Myron Nathan Ginsberg? Anyhow, Joe hits a lusty .260 with 8 homers in 304 ABs as a LH-hitting catcher in 1951. That alone makes him worth a #3. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/ginsbjo01.shtml See you after the world series! Dave Lauer =============================================
