========================================= My New York Mets squad is very focused on the future – the late 60’s and into the 70’s. This makes several players available who have current “star power” that might be of interest to those who hope to contend over the next few years. Ken Johnson averages 32 real life starts with a 3.28 ERA and 1.149 WHIP from 1964-1967. Bob Bruce is a top pitcher in both 1964 and 1965 Bo Belinsky gives you 24 excellent 1964 starts in his best season Joe Christopher has a .300/.360/.466 with a .826 OPS in 1964 in 543 AB’s and 16 homers combined with a Av rating in RF with a Vg arm. Felix Mantilla plays everywhere and has his two best seasons in 1964 and 1965. I’m looking for players with a longer term future and draft picks. I could package 2-3 of these guys for a very high 1st round pick. Don Rahn ================================= The Lakers have starters Vern Law and Joe Gibbon available. ============================================ I need starts but I can't see how I can protect Art Mahaffey who has 32 available starts and a ton of relief appearances. He would fit in as the fourth or fifth starter on almost any team. Looking for an appropriate draft pick. If you needs starts from the draft you won't get them after the first two rounds. ============================================ Gentlemen: The Hornets would entertain offers for Joe Adcock still a productive slugger for the next 3 yrs. Draft picks preferred but always willing to listen to offers. Rick ================================ The Gladiators have a few players on the block. OF Sam Bowens, a career year in '64 with 22 home runs in 501 ABs (.263/.325) OF Russ Snyder, a very good LH of platoon player for the next 6 or 7 years SS Jose Pagan, long-time platoon player (SS then 3B) We're looking to package a deal for a catcher or draft picks. Thanks, Joe ====================================================== Fellow Gm's, Greetings from your new owner/Gm of the former, now defunct Detroit Metro Stars, the current "Jersey City Giants". We could part ways with just about anyone on this team, although Bob Gibson would be tough and McCovey would be tough to deal---but not impossible. Like most, we are looking to become better in a couple years after some transaction maneuvering. Staring Pitching and draft picks are the order of the day in our initial evaluations. We accept the fact that we ( again) have no starting pitching( minus Gibson) and cannot expect to compete at the former Metro Star level of 97 wins this year ---by any stretch. Bob Gibson----Love--hard to pry away McCovey-------Ditto--maybe a tad less than Gibson Brooks Robinson---only like- adds stability to a roster for a long time. Tom Agee---Met Fan memories are important in visualization( especially to me!) Ron Hunt----Really Like this guy---HBP anyone?? Go ahead I dare ya ( a Met!!) Bob Allison----anyone need 32 Hrs in 1964???? Are Ya in a Pennant this year? Ron Fairly---Under appreciated--but has long career! Tom Tresh---Gaints overstocked in OF's like most I guess---Yankee visualization fans anywhere? Bob Purkey---Last very solid year here in 64---are ya in a pennant this year? Bill Pierce---lefty specialist in his swan song--could make a bullpen xtra tough Tony Gonzalez---I Like Harvey Kuenn---351 quality(non bonus) ab's at 1B and OF anywone else???? Fire away Thank you for your time, (wish I could thank you for your money!) Doc Schweitzer ================================================== Wabash would like to trade Tracy Stallard before the draft. We have plenty of starters and would be using him in relief. He is a regular starting pitcher in 1964 and 1965 (34-sg and 26-sg) and is about an average pitcher. I'd like a draft pick or an OFer in return. I'd like to move up in the first round and would swap picks with someone ahead of me in the draft along with passing along Stallard. I haven't seen the draft order, but Wabash would be drafting late in the first round. ================================================= Hot Rods have some good players available for 1964 draft choices SP Ernie Broglio (Solid 1964 SP) SP/RP Stan Williams (has an outstanding future ahead) OF Joe Gaines Take Care, Mike See ======================================================== The EKLions have a plethora of talent to trade: SPs VERN LAW and JOE GIBBON Utility man ROD KANEHL (rated at 1b-2b-3b-LF-CF - all good fielding ratings with a VG OF arm and VG speed.) Looking for draft choices along with phase 2-type guys. I'd encourage you to look over the Lions' roster and make an offer on anybody who interests you. .300 LH-hitting catcher Mark Salas...... .287 RH-hitting OF Gary Ward.... Better send Dave Lauer an e-mail now.... Trader Dave Lauer ================================================ The Rossville Hornets have several quality players for trading. Specifically slugging Joe Adcock and SS Andre Rodgers could be traded along with pitchers Ed Rakow and Jim Duffalo. Of course there are others on the roster that could be had. Always interested in trade discussions. Rick ================================================== Coming off of their 1963 Pennant, but disappointing loss in the World Series, the Route 66 Hot Rods are going into a rebuilding season in 1964, therefore we are making some pretty good players available for trade. Offensively we are pretty well set, probably need some starting pitching (but it does not have to be good in 1964), would also be interested in draft picks... 2B/3B/SS Jimmy Davenport - Been with the Rods since 1958. He is like a swiss army knife, and can play almost anywhere in your IF, give you 300+ plate appearences per season through 1969 and play pretty well. SS Larry Brown - In need of a starting shortstop for the rest of the 1960's? Larry will never hit .300 (what shortstops do in the 60's?) but he will provide solid defense, won't strikeout a lot and he'll get on base at a decent clip. Most importantly he plays. SP Ernie Broglio - Don't want, nor would I get Lou Brock for him, but if you need a decent starting pitcher in 1964, Ernie could be had for a reasonable cost. SP Jim O'Toole - If you are contending in 1964, Jim O'Toole would be a fantastic addition to your squad with 33 SPB Starts and a 1.14 WHIP. Pitchers through 1967. RP Hal Reniff - Hal is a stud relief pitcher in 1964 and averages 50+ games per season through 1967. Would make a great addition to any bullpen. and lastly........ 1B Orlando Cepeda - "The Baby Bull" - Yes, we are putting him on the trade block. Orlando is fantastic in 1964, batting .304 with 31 bombs. He is injured most of 1965, but bounces back with a vengeance in 1966 with a .301 avg and 20 HR's, then of course leads the Cardinals to a World series win in 1967 with his MVP season batting .325 with 25 HR. To top it off, he is very good from 1968-70 as well.......he won't come cheap, and I would need 1B AB's in return, or a younger lesser 1B with some future, but I would move him if the offer was right........lets talk.... Let the trading season begin with some fireworks this 4th of July! Take Care, Mike See ===========================================================
