All SPB II - 1961 Managers, Here is the total report on overusage incurred by 1961 players. I will list the team manager, offending players, and number of games of overuse accessed (for team & individual players). First off, congrats to the following managers during 1961 who did NOT have any overuse penalties. Kenosha Lions (Dave Lauer) Frankfort Fortress (Gary Plunkitt) Hampton Road Cruisers (Terry Baxter) Lafayette Slims (Steve Ehresman) L. A. Surfers (Don Zminda) Portland Beavers (Rich Applegate) Rossville Hornets (Rick Ryan) Salzburg Bishops (Chris Williams) South River Gladiators (Joe DeZarlo) Wabash Rivers (Bill Lanke) Winter Harbour Seals (Hugh McElaney) Now for the teams with usage from 1 to 5 games. Evanston Elephants (John Ungashick) (2 Games) L. Posada, of 8AB (1) D. Wickersham, p 1 Game (1) Route 66 Hot Rods (Mike See) (2 Games) J. Landis, of 5AB (1) F. Robinson, of 5AB (1) Seattle Totems (Steve Lehman) (3 Games) J. Mahoney, ss 15AB (3) West Warwick Monarchs (Steve Brunner) (5 Games) B. Bruce, p 1 Game (1) Sh. Jones, p 2 Starts (4) Good job guys. Hardly a scratch. Now the only team with more than 5 games did incurr the least of the permanent penalties) Detroit Metro Stars (Vin Onstott) (11 Games)** T. Gonzalez, of 19 AB (3) M. Alou, of 15 AB (3) R. Fairly, 1b/of 23 AB (4) B. Dailey, p 1 Game (1) Not too bad, Vin. But you will take a small hit for this amount. There was some overusage throughout the season for mistakes with MP's that were taken off the books for 2 teams. Evanston had 10 AB by Gil Hodges removed due to a glitch in the MP, and the Wabash team had 1 game of relief forgiven for Hoyt Wilhelm for the same reason. Overall, an excellent job by our 1961 managers!
