======================================== Triangles have one or two spare parts that some team may be able to use this year: Ken Suarez: Catcher with 270+ at bats with .248 average Glenn Beckert: 2b with 370+ at bats and .250 average Tony Taylor: 2b/1b with 270+ at bats and a .229 average. Jim McAndrew: 12 GS 11GR 5.38ERA…..will give you 48 bonus games for 73. Looking for 5th-7th round picks in general for these players. John ===================================== The Forest Cities have a few extra pieces on the trading block. Mike Tyson, 2B-SS, 469 Abs, .256-.279-.299. VG at 2B and AV at SS. Not a great hitter, but plays another 7 seven years. Rick Dempsey. Not much for a few years, but a long time C. Looking for draft choices, solid 73 releiver or a decent uncarded player who plays in 74. Terry ========================================= Speaking of trading, the Hollywood Stars could still move a few guys with decent numbers: - AURELIO RODRIGUEZ is a great defensive 3B with occasional power and several years as a regular left with a career through 1983 - JERRY BELL has 28 available starts in 1973 with a solid 3.97 ERA - RON WOODS has 318 AB in '73 with a .344 OBP and VG defense in LF and CF I don't have a lot of "freezer space," but I could use a 2B, and comparable draft choice or multi-player deals would interest me. Step right up! DZ ========================================== SP - Don Wilson - Don has a very nice year in 1973 with 35 SPB starts, a 3.20 era and only 10.8 runners per 9 innings. Also a solid season in 1974 with 35 more SPB starts before his tragic demise. If you need a good SP, Don could fit the bill. C- Skip Jutze - 378 SPB At bats at catcher in 1973. OF- Gene Clines - Longer career as a part time OF left, 304 AB's in 73, plays all 3 OF spots and a VG runner. RP- Lerrin Lagrow - The young RP is looking for a team that would like a young arm with a future. We have a roster spot open, and are open to any kind of offer the the players listed above.... Thanks Mike See ================================================== The Forest Citys offerr 2B/SS Mike Tyson (not the ear biter) for trade. Mike has 469 SPB ABs in 1973, 522 in '74 and 368 in '75. He can start at both 2B and SS for those 3 years before moving to 2B Fulltime in 76. I'm looking for a draft choice for Mike. I also have some RPS such as Georege Culver and Tom Hilgendorf who could potentially be moved in a deal including Tyson. ======================================== To all fellow GM's in SPB1 1973, Yes---those lower than low, Amboy "rotten" Dukes would like to make trades, and trades that make sense of course, not just for the comradery of it all. That being said, there is no player on the Dukes roster that is not open to being traded. Our needs and wants can be changed by any trade, but our biggest "needs" long term are at shortstop and catcher. Our needs for 1973(next year) are not many in Ab's, but more in an upgrade for 74 and beyond. Maybe you could convert one of my better players( Lopes/Burroughs) into 2 for 1's, and/or draft picks? Biggest possible commodity for trade is Jack Billingham and his league leading 40 starts. He finished 4th in the CY young balloting in 1973. Check him out---he is an extreme start and inning producer for most of the seventies. Either a 2 for 1, trade or a high draft pick( first or high second round) and some type of at least 20 or so replacement starts. The Dukes are also building a very strong bullpen come 1974 with Rollie Fingers, Al Hrabosky, Mike Garman, Tom Murphy, and even D Carrithers. Depending on exactly where the Amboy Dukes end up in the lottery draft, will obviously spur other definitive trade bait to follow. We do have 2 of the first 24 picks, and probably 3 of at least the first 28 picks. I am not expecting many offers back at all, but I am managing from the bottom of a cesspool, as best as can be expected. I hope my fellow tabletop baseball comrades can appreciate that although I have not been a "trader Jack", I am managing the Dukes with passion and good judgement. Thanks for your ears, That is all, your baseball buddy, Albert "Doc" Schweitzer PS--George Stone has volunteered half of his salary back, after going 1-22 last year. Duke management scoffed at his gesture, and told him,..."keep it buddy, we feel sorry for you more" =========================================== The Hollywood Stars have some players available for 1973: AURELIO RODRIGUEZ has more than a decade left, most of them as a full-time 3B with a great glove and occasional power LEE LACY has 250 avaiable at-bats and plays until 1987 as a utility man (and sometimes full-time player) with a good stick TOM PACIOREK has 195 AB in 1973 but many good years ahead, especially in the late 1970s/early 1980s. I am looking for more immediate help, especially at 2B or OF, and draft picks will always be considered. Step right up! DZ ============================================== The Las Vegas Thunder are considering the possibly putting switch hitting CF Billy North on the trade block. We do not need to trade him, but with Joe Rudi, Cesar Cedeno and Reggie Jackson roaming the OF, we could possibly afford to deal him if the deal was good enough. He would not come cheap. He is pretty much a full time CF through 1980 and one of the best OBP and base stealers i n the league during that stretch. The Thunder were out the the trade game last season and looking to jump back in a big way. What would be the cost??? A high draft pick and quailty player? Don't know exactly myself, but CFers like Billy are not easy to come by, so make an offer in you are interested. Happy New Year! Mike See LV Thunder ========================================== Gentlemen: I know that the trading lamp is now lit and a few trades are in the works or completed, just not reported yet. I have two very available pitchers that could help any team. They are Ray Corbin and Jerry Bell. Bell essentially has the '73 season remaining with 25 starts and 6 reliefs before his added 10% and a 3.97 ERA, he does pitch in 5 games in '74. Ray Corbin has a sterling '73 with 7 starts and 44 reliefs before his added 10% at 3.03! He has 58 bonus appearances in '74 and 36 bonus appearances in '75. I'm specifically looking for draft picks but never turn down discussions of players and would in fact consider a 2 for 1 deal involving a player. Happy New Year to all! Rick ====================================== Mike Tyson, FT SS/2B 73-75 before switching to 2B only in 76 thru 81. A 2nd rounder will get you Mike. Rich Coggins. an .831 OPS in 389 ABs in 73 and 411 ABs in 74. A 3rd rounder for Rich. Fred Scherman has 3 avg releif years left. a 4th for him.Geo Culver a 3.56 ERA in 42 games a 4th for him. Or a 3rd for both releivers. Terry ======================================= The Rats have SP Pete Broberg, 2B Dick Green and 3B Denis Menke available. Menke is rated Ex at 3b, and can play 2b and ss, with 348 "bonus" ABs and a .368obp. He has a handful of ABs in 1974. Green is rated Ex at 2b. He has 332 Abs with a .262ave and .308obp. He has 387 "bonus" ABs in 1974. Broberg has 26 "bonus" starts in 1973, 32 good starts in 1975 and 26 "bonus" starts in 1978, with about 20 games in relief in the other years. We'll take a 5th round pick each for Green and Menke, and a 3rd round pick for Broberg. Thanks, Joe ======================================== Lafayette is looking to move Bobby Tolen, Jack Brohamer, and Tim McCarver. We are looking for good relief pitchers, useful starters, and/or draft picks. Even Lee May can be had in the right package deal. This is not a blue light special nor a fire sale. All players have significant futures. We are looking for a fair, equitable, quality for quality deal. Ken McMullen and Al Kaline (HOF) are in the waning days of theri careers, but both have attributes that would bolster one of your 1973 benches. As always, I am open to a lot of possibilities, but pitching has been my bane and is my main interest. These guys will not carry the price tag of a Brohamer, a Tolan, or a McCarver--especially not a Lee May--but they can be had individually, together, or as part of a bigger and more significant package. Stuff your stockings early. Steve Ehresman Lafayette Chiefs 1973 ========================================= The Rossville Cubs will be looking for an OF this off-season. We have several potential players for trade as well as draft picks. Always fun to discuss the possibilities during these 'hot stove' periods.
